Responsibilities

• Classroom Management: Responsible for the classroom and all children in the classroom.
• Curriculum Planning: Develops and implements curriculum plans, daily activities, and parent communication.
• Childcare: Ensures licensing, health requirements, and safety compliance.
• Parent Communication: Responds to needs, questions, and concerns of parents and children effectively and timely.
• Activity Planning: Plans and executes classroom and outdoor activities daily.
• Lesson Preparation: Prepares weekly lesson plans, with copies for parents and the Manager.
• Supervision: Supervises meal times, toileting procedures, and indoor/outdoor activities for children.
• Staff Training: Trains and constructively utilizes assistant teachers.
• Meetings and Conferences: Attends staff meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing training.
• Center Maintenance: Cleans and organizes the Child Care Center as needed.
• Program Development: Plans and executes a developmentally appropriate program balanced within child developmental principles.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required, with the ability and commitment to attain CDA within two years of hire; or 12 semester hours, 18 CEU's or a combination to equal 180 clock hours with 1,920 hours of childcare/teaching experience. OR Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a child-related field. OR Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a child-related field. OR CDA Certificate with 480 hours of childcare/teaching experience.
• Experience: Experience in teaching, writing lesson plans, and managing a classroom is required.
• Combination: In some instances, a combination of semester hours and documented experience teaching will satisfy the state requirements.
