Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are seeking a Lead Test Automation Engineer with deep expertise in JavaScript or TypeScript-based automation frameworks to join our team in Brazil.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the test automation strategy, architecture, and long-term roadmap across multiple projects or teams
  • Architect, develop, and evolve scalable automated test frameworks using JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Lead the design and implementation of automated tests for frontend applications, APIs, and end-to-end flows
  • Establish standards and best practices for test suites using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, WebdriverIO, or similar
  • Drive the integration and optimization of automated tests within CI/CD pipelines, including shift-left and shift-right testing approaches
  • Oversee defect analysis processes, root cause investigations, and collaborate with engineering leadership on resolution strategies
  • Continuously improve automation reliability, execution time, scalability, and maintainability at scale
  • Lead test strategy definition, conduct technical code reviews, and guide quality engineering discussions across teams
  • Mentor, coach, and grow QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality and automation excellence
  • Collaborate with engineering managers, architects, and product leadership to align quality initiatives with business goals
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and methodologies to advance the team's capabilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation using JavaScript or TypeScript
  • At least 1 year of proven experience leading QA/automation teams or initiatives
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Cypress, Playwright, or WebdriverIO, including framework design from scratch
  • Strong background in API testing with Postman, SuperTest, or Axios
  • Advanced understanding of testing principles, test design techniques, and modern QA processes
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/Azure DevOps, including pipeline architecture
  • Strong skills in Git and version control strategies for large teams
  • Solid knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and DOM, along with HTTP and browser behavior
  • Experience operating in Agile/Scrum environments and shaping QA processes within them
  • Excellent debugging, analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive technical decisions across teams
  • English proficiency at B2 level or above

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in BDD frameworks such as Cucumber and establishing BDD practices across teams
  • Experience implementing visual regression testing strategies
  • Strong capability with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-based test execution platforms
  • Background in performance or accessibility testing, including tooling and strategy
  • Experience testing microservices or cloud-based applications at scale
