Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are looking for a Lead UI Engineer to help deliver a AAA fighting game UI built in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on fast, scalable, and polished player experiences across frontend, engagement, and in-match gameplay. You will partner closely with UX, UI Art, UI Tech Design, gameplay, VFX, sound, and publishing stakeholders. Apply to help ship production-ready UI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement UI features and systems in Unreal Engine 5 using CommonUI, UMG, and Slate
  • Build reusable UI components, widgets, input patterns, and interaction systems
  • Translate UX flows, prototypes, and visual designs into shippable in-engine UI with designers and artists
  • Deliver both frontend UI and in-match gameplay UI, including 2D UI and 3D-anchored 2D-rendered UI
  • Create UI animation, transitions, and effects using UMG, Sequencer, Blueprints, and materials where appropriate
  • Optimize UI performance, responsiveness, memory usage, load behavior, and input handling across supported platforms
  • Integrate UI with gameplay systems, backend-facing services, progression and engagement systems, and publishing workflows as needed
  • Coordinate with sound and VFX teams to deliver polished UI feedback and call-to-action effects
  • Run technical reviews, debugging, profiling, and documentation to support production
  • Support seasonal updates, live operations, and post-release UI maintenance

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience building UI in Unreal Engine
  • At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
  • Lead-level collaboration skills partnering with UX, UI Art, UI Tech Design, gameplay, sound, VFX, and publishing stakeholders
  • Production experience delivering UI systems during a transition from pre-production to production with evolving UI direction
  • Strong UE5 CommonUI, UMG, and Slate skills
  • Strong Unreal Engine C++ skills for UI implementation and integration
  • Solid Blueprint-based UI workflow knowledge and designer-facing implementation patterns
  • Strong responsive UI and input abstraction knowledge, including controller support, touch input, and multi-platform behavior
  • Proven UI performance optimization skills for real-time applications, including responsiveness, memory, and load behavior
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex game UI environments
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)

Nice to Have

  • Experience on AAA, live-service, multiplayer, fighting, action, or competitive games
  • Experience with mobile-first game UI
  • Experience supporting seasonal content updates or live publishing pipelines
  • Familiarity with Figma and HTML prototypes
  • Experience integrating UI animation, materials, sound cues, and VFX-style feedback
  • Experience using approved AI-assisted development tools in a professional production environment
