Job description

About the Position

We are looking for a Lead UI Tech Designer (Unreal Engine) to bridge design and engineering by building scalable UI systems in Unreal Engine with a focus on architecture, performance, and game feel. You will translate wireframes into reusable widgets and navigation flows while partnering closely across disciplines-apply to help ship polished, responsive UI experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design UI system architecture by decomposing features and wireframes into widgets, structures, and classes
  • Build reusable and extensible widget libraries that enable consistent, scalable UI development
  • Implement wireframe layouts using appropriate widget classes to unblock visual styling workflows
  • Translate UX and visual design needs into clear technical requirements for engineering partners
  • Ensure player input mapping is responsive and supports appropriate game feel across UI flows
  • Own UI performance by profiling UMG, Slate, C++, and texture memory costs within CPU and memory budgets
  • Write Blueprint presentation logic and advise what belongs in Blueprint versus native code
  • Debug Blueprint and UMG issues quickly using fault-isolation techniques
  • Coordinate documentation, organization, and workflow improvements across UX, UI art, and UI engineering

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a UI Tech Designer, Technical UI Artist, or similar hybrid role
  • Proven leadership skills bridging design and engineering to align technical and UX goals
  • Strong project ownership skills to drive ambiguous UI system problems to shippable solutions
  • Deep Unreal Engine 5 experience with UMG, Slate, and Blueprints on shipped UI screens and flows
  • Strong UI systems design skills to create reusable, extensible widgets, structures, and classes
  • Solid UI performance knowledge across memory and CPU constraints in real-time engines
  • Proven navigation and state management experience for complex, context-dependent UI flows
  • Strong style sheet and style set experience to ensure consistent theming across many screens
  • Excellent collaboration skills with UX, UI art, and engineering partners
  • Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)
  • Ability to maintain reasonable working-time overlap with clients in Cary, NC

Nice to Have

  • Experience building scoped or context-driven navigation systems
  • Familiarity with large-scale discovery or storefront UI patterns
  • Advanced Blueprint scripting beyond basic UI wiring
  • Experience working with AI assistants to improve UI workflows or documentation
  • Strong understanding of gaming UI conventions and interaction patterns

We Offer

  • International projects with top brands
  • Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Employee financial programs
  • Paid time off and sick leave
  • Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses
  • Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses

  • Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
