About the Position

Lead VFX Artist

CD PROJEKT RED is developing its first-ever original IP and video game codenamed Project Hadar. The role is within a team dedicated to crafting this new game, focusing on revolutionary, story-driven RPGs.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, leading, mentoring, and guiding VFX artists to foster innovation and excellence.
• Developing and optimizing VFX workflows.
• Prototyping, researching, and integrating particle effects using Unreal Engine 5.
• Collaborating with teams supporting gameplay, characters, cinematics, and environments.
• Working with directors and production to craft the project vision and estimate workloads.
• Researching new workflows and pushing VFX possibilities.
• Ensuring VFX content is performant and within budget.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in the gaming industry, with at least 2 years in leadership.
• Experience mentoring and guiding VFX artists.
• Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.
• Commitment to ownership, goal setting, knowledge exchange, and driving initiatives independently.
• Experience with real-time and baked simulation.
• Knowledge of 3D software: Max, Maya, or Blender.
• Understanding of rendering techniques, real-time shaders, and lighting.
• Understanding of performance and optimization.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

About the Company

This position requires working in Warsaw with a hybrid working mode available. Relocation to Poland is required. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
