Job description
About the Position
Global Wind Service is looking for a Lean Specialist with strong WTG construction and site management experience to improve planning, productivity, and project execution across our global project portfolio.
This is a site-focused role. We are looking for someone who understands how wind turbine construction projects operate in practice, ideally from a Site Manager, Construction Manager, Installation Manager, Supervisor, or similar background. WTG construction experience is essential; manufacturing or factory-based experience alone will not meet the requirements of this role.
You will combine your practical site experience with Lean and continuous improvement methods to identify better ways of working and support project teams in implementing them.
The role includes approximately 75–100 days of international travel per year. On site, you will work directly with technicians, supervisors, and project teams to understand operational challenges and identify practical improvements. Between visits, you will analyze findings, develop solutions and tools, coach colleagues, and follow up on implementation.
Reporting to the Head of Lean@Site, you will join a dedicated team focused on improving site execution, standardizing processes, and driving continuous improvement.
Locations
- Duiven, Gelderland, Netherlands
- Szczecin, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland
- Fredericia, Syddanmark, Denmark
Responsibilities
- Visit WTG construction sites to identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, and project execution.
- Identify, quantify, and implement practical improvements across wind projects.
- Work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors, technicians, and project teams to understand operational challenges and develop workable solutions.
- Apply Lean and continuous improvement methods to planning, workflow, standard work, and site execution.
- Coach site leaders and Lean Champions in practical planning, problem-solving, and visual management.
- Build strong relationships with project teams and support the adoption of improved ways of working.
- Support site digitalization initiatives.
- Analyze findings between site visits, develop improvement proposals, and coordinate implementation.
- Promote continuous improvement across GWS sites and teams.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in WTG construction, installation, or site management within the wind industry.
- Strong practical understanding of wind turbine construction and site execution.
- Experience working directly with WTG installation/construction teams and site-based operations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify operational challenges and implement practical improvements.
- Lean, operational excellence, or continuous improvement experience is highly valued, but WTG construction experience is the primary requirement.
- Relevant technical, engineering, construction, or project management background.
- Formal Lean qualification is an advantage, but not essential.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage technicians, site management, and project teams.
- Structured, analytical, and self-driven approach.
- Offshore Pre-Installation experience is an advantage.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Ability to travel internationally 75-100 days per year.
We Offer
- Work on high-impact offshore and onshore wind projects with global teams.
- A role with significant site exposure and the opportunity to influence project execution across GWS.
- A dynamic, inclusive, and informal work culture.
- Hybrid working and flexibility when not traveling.
- Competitive compensation package including pension, insurance, laptop, and mobile.
