Learning and Development Lead
Primary stack
Job description
About the Position
Are you comfortable navigating ambiguity and know how to help teams transform loose, high-level ideas into clear, practical learning solutions? Do you look at inefficient processes and naturally see how to build scalable frameworks that help people grow? If you enjoy driving clarity across diverse groups and value real outcomes over corporate checklists, this role is for you.
About JetBrains
We create intelligent software development tools for developers and teams. More than 15 million users, over 300,000 companies, and 88 of the Fortune Global Top 100 rely on our products to solve real, complex problems. Our mission is simple: make development teams more productive and AI adoptable at scale.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day team realities. You will collaborate closely with department and team leads, and HR, Comp & Benefits, and Analytics departments to translate loosely defined needs into clear development goals. You will have full ownership of these portfolios, building decision-making frameworks for learning investments and making the impact of L&D highly visible across JetBrains.
Day to day, you will:
- Lead and support the L&D team, helping owners prioritize their goals, make decisions, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Work with department and team leads across the company to align learning initiatives with real business priorities.
- Translate ambiguous team requests into structured development goals and clear delivery plans.
- Facilitate alignment when stakeholder priorities or expected outcomes are unclear.
- Build clear decision-making frameworks for high-cost learning investments and business-driven development needs.
- Use data, surveys, and business signals to evaluate learning impact and adjust portfolio priorities.
Requirements
- A focus on outcomes and impact rather than corporate L&D checklists.
- The ability to navigate uncertainty and help teams move forward through ambiguity.
- A collaborative mindset that easily connects with diverse teams across countries and time zones.
- Curiosity about how AI tools and automation can transform learning, work, and leadership development.
- A preference for clear ownership and explicit accountability over design-by-committee.
- A dedication to craftsmanship, ensuring learning solutions are role-specific, practical, and connected to real work.
Skills Required
- The proven capability to lead a talent development, L&D, or similar people development function.
- Extensive experience diagnosing organizational needs and building custom solutions across different business contexts or client environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clarify expectations, ask the right questions, and negotiate trade-offs.
- The demonstrated ability to set clear goals and help teams move from broad requests to measurable outcomes.
- Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- The ability to design leadership development systems and manage learning governance and budget planning.
We Offer
- Strong base salary. We offer competitive pay that reflects your skills and experience.
- Flexible work location. Enjoy the freedom to work from home or from the office.
- Remote work. Spend up to 30 days per year working remotely from abroad.
- Extra time off. More days to relax, recharge, and do the things you love.
- Medical insurance allowance. Enjoy peace of mind for you and your family.
- Learning and development opportunities. Access to conferences, courses, and language classes.
- Relocation support. We help make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible.
- Language classes. Pick up the local language or sharpen your English skills.
- Fuel your day. Enjoy a hot meal or receive a lunch allowance on workdays.
- Mental health support. To help you feel your best, we provide easy access to professional mental health services.
- Sports benefit. Enjoy an on-site gym or sports club stipend.
- Internal events. Join company-wide celebrations and team gatherings.
*Some benefits may vary depending on location.
