About the Position
We are searching for a great Linux engineer in the area of Amsterdam to have a very nice challenge in a team of 2 Linux engineers and you will be working with Puppet.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with software and production engineers to streamline and automate workflows between development and deployment.
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Linux environments for cutting-edge digital artworks, ensuring performance, stability, and scalability.
- Design, implement, and maintain Puppet modules to automate system configuration, deployments, and updates across multiple environments.
- Manage on-site digital artwork deployments at client locations, including integration with home automation and show control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and deployment issues, providing clear and actionable reports.
- Collaborate with software teams to maintain servers, CI/CD pipelines, and build systems.
- Support employee device management (Linux, Apple, and Windows) and onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of robust network infrastructures (VLANs, VPNs, managed switches, routing, and traffic control).
- Help define and enforce IT policies, including:
- Automated OS configuration and network standards
- Backup and versioning strategies
- Deployment and monitoring procedures
- Provide technical support and guidance to both internal teams and clients.
- Write and maintain clear technical documentation for internal and external use.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of professional experience in system administration or DevOps, ideally in mixed environments.
- Strong expertise in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu, CentOS/RHEL) and proven hands-on experience with Puppet.
- Good knowledge of IT security, system hardening, and best practices in configuration management.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls).
- Comfortable with hybrid environments (Linux, Apple, Windows).
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly.
