Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor (26-14)

Location: Mariposa, California

Responsibilities

The Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor will implement an extension education and applied problem-solving research program in livestock production systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing management practices that improve livestock production in Mariposa and Merced Counties.
  • Collaborating with other CE advisors, campus-based specialists, AES faculty, and clientele.
  • Developing educational outreach programs and research to address challenges faced by the livestock community.
  • Conducting seminars, workshops, field days, and other extension activities to disseminate information on livestock management practices.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of a master's degree in animal science, range management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Extension experience and demonstrated excellence in applied research.
  • Skills:
    • Certified Rangeland Manager license or desire to obtain it within five years of hire.
    • Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed.
    • Valid California Driver's License.
    • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral, interpersonal, and information technology communication skills.
    • Spanish language proficiency is desired.
