Chemonics Australia seeks expressions of interest from qualified development economics and finance professionals for an anticipated international development technical assistance opportunity in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Roles

Chemonics is seeking to identify experts with deep technical expertise and practical experience delivering economic and finance advisory services in complex development environments. We are particularly interested in professionals who can provide short-term and long-term insight into the design, management, and delivery of demand-driven advisory mechanisms and who understand how development economics and finance expertise is deployed to address emerging policy and development priorities. Work may comprise economic policy reform, development finance, public financial management, and economic resilience initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Provide economic and finance advisory services in complex development environments
  • Offer short-term and long-term insights into the design, management, and delivery of demand-driven advisory mechanisms
  • Understand and deploy development economics and finance expertise to address emerging policy and development priorities
  • Work on economic governance, finance, and policy reform programs
  • Advise ministries of finance, treasury agencies, central banks, planning ministries, or investment promotion agencies
  • Support economic reform, public finance, trade, investment, or private sector development initiatives in developing and emerging economies
  • Manage or contribute to technical assistance facilities that deploy short- and long-term advisers across multiple countries or sectors
  • Design, oversee, or deliver advisory services under flexible, demand-responsive mechanisms

Requirements

  • Post-graduate (Master’s) degree in finance, economics, business administration, law, or other related fields
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in relevant subject matter delivering quality services
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of different stakeholders such as women, the elderly, people with disabilities, and others with special mobility needs
  • Professional fluency in English and demonstrated ability to work effectively with government counterparts in local languages, particularly in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Southeast Asia, and Pacific Island countries

Nice to Have

  • Experience in economic policy reform, development finance, public financial management, and economic resilience initiatives
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in designing, overseeing, or delivering advisory services under flexible, demand-responsive mechanisms
