About the Position

Mainframe Test Lead (IBM z/TPF) – Travel Domain

As a Mainframe Test Lead (IBM z/TPF), you will make an impact by leading end-to-end testing strategy and execution for high-volume travel and GDS-based systems. You will be a valued member of the QA team and work collaboratively with development, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure quality delivery of airline Offer, Booking, and Order platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive test strategy, planning, and execution for IBM z/TPF/z/TPFDF-based applications
  • Lead QA teams in delivering end-to-end functional and integration testing across GDS and airline systems
  • Validate EDIFACT-based interfaces and ensure accuracy in high-volume transaction processing environments
  • Manage defect lifecycle, provide risk assessments, and communicate status updates to stakeholders
  • Build, enhance, and drive adoption of TPF-based test automation frameworks and integrate with CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in IBM z/TPF and z/TPFDF environments
  • Proven experience in mainframe testing within the travel domain (GDS systems)
  • Hands-on experience with TPF automation frameworks and tools
  • Solid understanding of EDIFACT messaging and interface validation
  • Experience leading QA teams and managing testing for high-volume transaction systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience with airline Offer, Booking, and Order management systems
  • Strong exposure to CI/CD integration with test automation frameworks
  • Ability to drive automation adoption and improve test coverage and efficiency
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Compensation: Annual salary between $83,250– $131,500 depending on experience and other qualifications

Work Model

At Cognizant, we believe in flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Atlanta, GA or Denver, CO. The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting and may change based on project and business requirements.
