About the Role

QuantumDiamonds is seeking an exceptional Managing Director USA to lead the next stage of our growth in the US semiconductor market.

Our quantum sensing-based inspection systems are already being deployed with leading semiconductor players across the US, Asia, and Europe. With a growing installed base and wafer-level evaluations progressing with major semiconductor manufacturers, we are entering an exciting new phase: scaling commercial adoption of our QDm.1 systems while bringing our technology from the failure analysis lab closer to the semiconductor production line.

As Managing Director USA, you will drive both ambitions. On one side, you will turn existing customer deployments and technical evaluations into repeatable equipment sales, strategic accounts, and long-term partnerships. On the other side, you will help advance our lab-to-fab development agreements, working with Tier 1 semiconductor manufacturers to enable wafer-level inspection.

This is not a traditional country management role. You will be our senior commercial and strategic representative in the US, combining direct customer engagement, business development, and organizational leadership. You will work closely with our founders and engineering teams in Munich, with substantial ownership of how QuantumDiamonds grows in one of our most important markets.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where we already have customer deployments, you will build on existing relationships, open new opportunities, and develop the local organization needed to support our expanding business.

Responsibilities

Own Commercial Growth of Our Lab Systems

  • Own the US commercial strategy for our lab systems, called QDm.1, turning existing installations, customer evaluations, and market interest into repeatable equipment sales.
  • Develop and expand strategic accounts across semiconductor manufacturers, advanced packaging companies, failure analysis labs, and other relevant customers.
  • Lead complex equipment sales cycles, from initial engagement and technical qualification through commercial negotiations, purchase orders, and follow-on business.
  • Build strong relationships with technical decision-makers, budget owners, and procurement teams, understanding what drives investment decisions and how to move opportunities forward.
  • Develop a reliable sales pipeline, clear account plans, and realistic forecasts, with accountability for commercial performance and revenue growth.
  • Identify opportunities to expand our installed base through additional systems, new customer sites, and broader adoption within existing accounts.
  • Work closely hand-in-hand with existing local distributors for cross- and upselling opportunities.

Own Existing JDAs with Tier 1 US Chipmakers Moving from Lab to Fab

  • Strengthen relationships with leading US semiconductor manufacturers to advance technical evaluations and identify commercially relevant use cases.
  • Work closely with Applications, Engineering, and Product Development to align customer requirements, evaluation milestones, and commercial objectives.
  • Understand customer technology roadmaps, manufacturing challenges, and qualification processes to identify where quantum sensing can provide meaningful value beyond existing inspection methods.
  • Help turn successful wafer-level demonstrations into structured development partnerships, qualification programs, and future commercial opportunities.
  • Bring a clear commercial perspective to lab-to-fab priorities, ensuring we focus on applications with strong customer demand and realistic adoption potential.

Build and Strengthen Strategic Customer Partnerships

  • Act as QuantumDiamonds' senior representative in the US, developing trusted relationships with engineering leadership, technical executives, and commercial decision-makers.
  • Navigate complex customer organizations and long decision-making cycles, connecting technical champions with the stakeholders responsible for qualification, purchasing, and technology adoption.
  • Maintain close engagement with existing customers to understand their experience, anticipate future needs, and identify opportunities for additional business.
  • Represent QD in strategic negotiations, executive meetings, industry conferences, and semiconductor ecosystem events.
  • Establish QD as a long-term technology partner rather than simply an equipment supplier.

Ensure Successful Deployments and Customer Adoption

  • Take regional responsibility for customer success, ensuring that installations, evaluations, and ongoing support contribute to strong customer relationships and future business.
  • Coordinate closely with our Applications, Operations, and Product Development teams to align customer commitments with system readiness, delivery timelines, and technical support.
  • Help develop the local field applications and service capabilities needed to support a growing US installed base.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for strategic customer matters, ensuring issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
  • Build the foundations for a reliable, scalable customer experience as our US business grows.

Build and Lead Our US Organization

  • Develop the US organization in line with commercial growth, customer deployments, and the evolving needs of our lab-to-fab activities.
  • Recruit and lead a focused, high-performing team across commercial, field applications, and service functions as the business scales.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, and ways of working between the US team and our headquarters in Munich.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, customer focus, accountability, and hands-on problem-solving.
  • Balance entrepreneurial speed with the operational discipline needed to support increasingly complex customer programs.

Shape Our Global Product and Business Strategy

  • Bring first-hand insights from US customers into our global strategy, including emerging technical requirements, competitive developments, customer roadmaps, and commercial opportunities.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Applications to ensure customer feedback informs product priorities and future development.
  • Contribute to decisions on market positioning, strategic partnerships, and the commercial direction of our QDm.1 and lab-to-fab activities.
  • Own US business planning, budgets, forecasting, and performance reporting in close collaboration with our Munich leadership team.
  • Act as a key member of QuantumDiamonds' extended leadership team, helping shape the next stage of our international growth.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Extensive leadership experience in the semiconductor industry, ideally within semiconductor capital equipment, metrology, inspection, test, or failure analysis.
  • Sales Expertise: Proven success selling complex semiconductor equipment, including managing long sales cycles, strategic customer evaluations, technical qualifications, and multimillion-dollar commercial opportunities.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging technologies, including HBM, chiplets, 2.5D/3D integration, or related electrical failure analysis and debug workflows.
  • Network: An established network within the US semiconductor ecosystem, with relationships among relevant technical leaders, engineering decision-makers, and strategic accounts.
  • Commercial Skills: Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to navigate complex customer organizations and stakeholder environments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to represent QuantumDiamonds at senior executive level and collaborate closely with our Munich headquarters.
  • Location: Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area, with flexibility to travel frequently across the US and regularly to our headquarters in Munich.

We Offer

  • Mission: At QD, we’re driven by more than just building great products - we aim to make a lasting difference. Joining us means contributing to meaningful work that goes beyond business as usual.
  • Impact & Growth: This is an exciting stage of our journey, and your voice matters. You’ll have the chance to shape our culture, influence key decisions, and grow alongside a company that’s scaling fast.
  • Team & Culture: We believe the best ideas come when we connect outside the office. From regular off-sites to team events, you’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Well-being & Balance: Enjoy 30 days of paid vacation annually, in addition to US company-observed public holidays. We also offer a flexible paid sick leave policy, because taking care of your health should never come at the expense of your vacation days.
  • Learning & Development: Your growth is our priority. We provide an annual budget dedicated to courses, conferences, or any resources that help you expand your skills.
  • Ownership & Participation: As part of our equity program, you’ll directly share in our success and the value we create together.
