Job description

About the Position

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join our team in Torrance, California. This role is pivotal in bringing complex hardware products from concept to high-volume production. You will work across Engineering, Test, and Operations to develop robust manufacturing processes, tooling, and assembly solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and scale manufacturing processes for complex electro-mechanical products
  • Lead DFM/DFA efforts and drive design changes that improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and production throughput
  • Design and deploy manufacturing tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, and automation solutions
  • Support products through DVT, PVT, and production ramp, including manufacturing validation, process qualification, and yield improvement activities
  • Analyze manufacturing data and drive improvements in yield, cycle time, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Design, Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience developing and scaling manufacturing processes for complex electro-mechanical products
  • Proven experience leading DFM/DFA efforts and driving design changes
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying manufacturing tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, and automation solutions
  • Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis (Cpk), DOE, tolerance analysis, and root-cause problem solving methodologies
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or equivalent)
  • Strong expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and driving manufacturable design requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze manufacturing data and drive improvements in yield, cycle time, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Strong communication and project leadership skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing manufacturing processes and production systems for drones, robotics, aerospace, or other mission-critical hardware products
  • Experience with factory automation, machine vision systems, industrial robotics, and custom manufacturing equipment development
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and regulated manufacturing environments, including AS9100, ISO 9001, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA

We Offer

  • Competitive salary range: $112,500 – $157,000 USD
  • Highly competitive equity grants as part of Neros' total compensation package
