By combining information management expertise and in-depth knowledge of the building, infrastructure, and energy industries, Thinkproject empowers customers to efficiently deliver, operate, regenerate, and dispose of their built assets across their entire lifecycle through a Connected Data Ecosystem.

What your day will look like

The Marketing Automation & Data Manager is the technical owner of Thinkproject’s Marketo environment and its connections to the broader commercial technology stack. The role ensures that campaigns, lifecycle programmes, data flows, and lead-management processes operate accurately and reliably. It combines hands-on Marketo administration with campaign operations, data quality, technical troubleshooting, and user enablement.

Responsibilities

Marketo Administration

  • Act as the primary administrator and technical owner of Marketo.
  • Manage users, roles, workspaces, partitions, channels, tags, and programme templates.
  • Maintain naming conventions, folder structures, tokens, and operational programmes.
  • Configure and monitor smart campaigns, lists, forms, landing pages, and email programmes.
  • Manage platform releases and assess their impact on existing processes.
  • Monitor platform health, campaign queues, and system performance.

Campaign and Lifecycle Implementation

  • Build and test automated nurture, acquisition, re-engagement, and customer programmes.
  • Translate campaign and lifecycle requirements into scalable Marketo programme structures.
  • Create reusable templates that allow marketers to launch campaigns efficiently.
  • Implement segmentation, personalisation, and localisation requirements.
  • Establish quality-assurance processes for data, links, tracking, consent, and rendering. Support campaign activation while protecting platform integrity and governance.

CRM Integration and Lead Management

  • Monitor and maintain the integration between Marketo and the CRM.
  • Manage field mappings, synchronisation rules, and operational data flows.
  • Implement the technical logic for lifecycle stages, scoring, qualification, and routing.
  • Investigate and resolve synchronisation errors, duplicate records, and routing failures.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations on changes affecting leads, contacts, accounts, and opportunities.
  • Document dependencies between marketing automation and CRM processes.

Data Quality and Compliance

  • Monitor data completeness, accuracy, duplication, and standardisation.
  • Implement automated processes for enrichment, normalisation, and database hygiene.
  • Maintain consent, subscription, and communication-preference processes.
  • Support GDPR-compliant collection and use of prospect and customer data.
  • Manage suppression rules, retention processes, and preference-centre integrations.
  • Escalate data, security, or compliance risks to the appropriate owners.

Reporting and Analytics Enablement

  • Ensure campaigns use consistent tracking, taxonomy, and attribution fields.
  • Support reliable reporting across Marketo, CRM, website, and advertising platforms.
  • Produce operational reporting on database health, campaign execution, and lead processing.
  • Help diagnose conversion issues by analysing programme and lifecycle data.
  • Validate that campaign and attribution data reaches downstream reporting systems correctly.

Documentation and Enablement

  • Maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, and process maps.
  • Train marketers on approved templates, processes, and platform standards.
  • Provide technical guidance during campaign planning.
  • Establish intake, prioritisation, and service-level processes for Marketo requests.
  • Reduce reliance on manual processes through automation and reusable programme architecture.

Measures of Success

  • Marketo and CRM synchronisation remains reliable and errors are resolved promptly.
  • Lead scoring and routing operate within agreed service levels.
  • Campaigns launch accurately and require fewer manual corrections.
  • Marketing database quality and consent coverage improve.
  • Teams use standard templates, taxonomy, and governance processes.
  • Operational incidents and unplanned technical work decrease.
  • Marketing reporting contains complete and consistent campaign data.
  • Automation reduces campaign production time and repetitive work.

Requirements

  • Core Skills:

    • 4+ years of experience in marketing automation or marketing operations.
    • 3+ years of hands-on Marketo administration experience.
    • Strong knowledge of Marketo programmes, smart campaigns, tokens, forms, landing pages, segmentation, and database management.
    • Practical experience with Salesforce or another enterprise CRM.
    • Experience managing marketing automation and CRM integrations.
    • Understanding of lead lifecycle, scoring, routing, and attribution processes.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
    • Working knowledge of GDPR, consent management, and email-marketing requirements.
    • Ability to translate business requirements into technical workflows.
    • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Preferred Experience:

    • Marketo Certified Expert or equivalent certification.
    • Experience with APIs, webhooks, integration platforms, or enrichment tools.
