Job description

About the Position

Master Thesis System Identification and Calibration of Next-Generation MEMS Gyroscopes

Kusterdingen, BW, Germany

Bosch Sensortec GmbH develops and markets key technologies in consumer electronics – micro-electro-mechanical sensors (MEMS), solutions and systems for smartphone applications, tablets, video game consoles, wearables, and the Internet of things. The sensors enable devices to recognize their surroundings and to transmit the data collected. MEMS are therefore part of the foundation for a networked world. Bosch Sensortec GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH.

The Bosch Sensortec GmbH is looking forward to your application!

High-performance MEMS gyroscopes are essential for modern applications ranging from consumer electronics to robotics. While initial calibration handles manufacturing tolerances, environmental factors such as temperature changes, mechanical stress and ageing can cause performance drift over time. To maintain long-term accuracy, this project focuses on developing, as well as validating efficient, non-intrusive system identification methods.

As part of your Master thesis, you will explore innovative techniques for injecting test signals directly into the system in order to identify key parameters. You will develop and evaluate innovative concepts for injecting test signals for in-field parameter identification. In addition, you will design and set up test scenarios to validate the developed methods. Lastly, you will apply your system identification algorithms, benchmark their performance quantitatively and assess their suitability for sensor platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Explore innovative techniques for injecting test signals directly into the system
  • Develop and evaluate concepts for in-field parameter identification
  • Design and set up test scenarios to validate the developed methods
  • Apply system identification algorithms and benchmark their performance
