Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Position

Join TMC as a Mechanical Design Engineer in Gent, Belgium. Develop technical designs and translate customer needs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• On request of the Sales Engineer, you will develop an initial concept design that meets customer needs.
• After approval of the offer, you will receive a detailed project briefing during the kick-off meeting, after which you will work closely with the Project Engineer to finalize the design.
• You will take the lead in technically developing complex solutions: translating concepts into clear drawings and developing detailed production and assembly plans.
• You will ensure that all technical drawings are completed on time and within the proposed budgets.
• Based on 3D concepts, you will create accurate technical 2D CAD drawings. In addition to design work, you will also handle administrative tasks such as preparing material lists and placing orders with suppliers.
• Together with the Project Engineer, you will coordinate your drawings with customers and suppliers to reach clear agreements.
• Throughout the project, you will regularly consult with the project team to align progress and technical details.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering and initial work experience with 3D drawing using parametric drawing packages such as Inventor.
• Hands-on mentality, combining smooth project execution with well-considered choices and adaptability.
• Good communication skills and the ability to discuss and debate.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities to meet deadlines.
• Ability to respond quickly to customer expectations and translate their needs into technical solutions.
• Fluency in Dutch and English. Knowledge of French and/or German is a plus!
