Mechanical Engineer - Test Systems

ZF is looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Systems team in Shanghai, China. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design and develop mechanical structures for test benches, ensuring they meet customer specifications and industry standards.

About The Team

ZF Test Systems has been developing and producing test benches for on- and off-road mobility for over 35 years. We are now seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Shanghai, China.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical structures for test benches according to customer specifications.
• Provide technical support for Sales, Project Management, Service, and other teams.
• Responsible for mechanical design (3D and/or 2D), BOM, and documentation of test benches.
• Perform various calculations such as strength of materials, forces, and stresses.
• Design with the best safety and ergonomic practices, adhering to local standards and governmental guidelines.
• Manage design reviews internally and with customers, and sign meeting minutes.
• Participate in internal project acceptance and be responsible for mechanical problem-solving throughout the project process.
• Support supplier management (delivery, cost, quality).
• Select and verify local mechanical components.
• Provide technical support for manufacture, installation, and debugging on-site.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to meet customer specifications and industrial standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related major.
• 3-5 years of mechanical design and dimensioning experience.
• Good technical know-how in automotive R&D testing or EOL testing, especially in new energy vehicle applications.
• Basic knowledge in fluid engineering (cooling water, hydraulics, pneumatics, conditioning).
• Experience in machine dynamics and strength calculation.
• Solid knowledge of testing, cycle time robots, and dimensioning of mechanical components.
• Good command of Creo, Axalant, SAP, KissSoft, and other computer skills.
• Familiar with finite element analysis software and able to design new machines and/or tooling.
• Very good analytical skills, communication, and presentation skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent knowledge of customers’ specifications and strong design/process skills.
• Good teamwork with a strong customer-oriented approach.
• Willingness to take challenges and responsibilities.
• Open mind and effective communication with team members.
• Ability to work with high independence, under pressure, and in a tight schedule.
• Pursue high-quality standards and implement them.
• Good English and Mandarin skills, both oral and written. German is a plus.
• Willingness for frequent business travel within China.
