Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

Join our team as a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant and play an important role in delivering quality patient care through accurate laboratory testing. In this hands-on position, you'll collect and process specimens, perform laboratory tests, report results, and help maintain laboratory equipment in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and help maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Collect acceptable blood samples using current phlebotomy standards and follow OSHA’s blood borne pathogen regulations.
  • Perform, interpret, and report results of testing.
  • Competently use the required computer programs.
  • Participate in all Quality Assurance activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service by working closely and respectfully with students.

Requirements

  • BS, MT(ASCP), BS, MLS(ASCP), or MLT(ASCP) preferred.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of test methodologies and laboratory equipment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computers.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Attention to detail.
