Primetals Technologies, a global leader in equipment manufacturing and services for the metal industry, is seeking a Metallurgist for Strand Casting Plants to join our team in Linz, Austria. Responsibilities

In our Technology & Innovation department (UP CE CCM TI), we are looking for a Metallurgist to take on the following key tasks:

• Provide global support for the commissioning of new strand casting plants, ensuring process guarantees and product properties are met
• Participate in casting simulations prior to implementation
• Verify parameter set points, evaluate, compare, and provide feedback to operations and product quality
• Solve problems, optimize, and fine-tune parameters
• Define the performance test program (quality, format, speed, and schedule)
• Conduct performance tests with customers, monitor and collect data, analyze test results, and discuss improvements and implementation of new casting parameters
• Train customers on technological and metallurgical topics
• Analyze plant data for process and product quality optimization
• Address and resolve process and metallurgical tasks in interdisciplinary teams in an international environment
• Provide technological support in project acquisition and execution
• Independently discuss and negotiate technical specifications and guarantees with global customers
• Develop creative ideas for revolutionizing strand casting (mechanics, process, digitalization, and project-related work, finding individual solutions for each customer - no mass production)

Requirements

• Completed technical degree (e.g., Metallurgy, Material Science)
• Several years of experience as a Metallurgical Engineer or in similar positions is desirable
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• High willingness to travel (approx. 50%)
• Free access to the Austrian labor market

We Offer

• A gross annual salary according to the collective agreement of at least EUR 53,241.02 (F/00) or EUR 62,243.30 (G/00) for this position, with the possibility of significantly higher pay based on education and experience
