About the Position
Open Networking Automation and Verification Engineer - PLVision
We are looking for a Middle-level SONiC Automation and Verification Engineer to join PLVision and contribute to the quality, stability, and production readiness of SONiC-based networking solutions and products.
This role sits at the intersection of test automation, feature verification, and advanced issue investigation. You will help validate SONiC functionality, reproduce complex field issues, verify bug fixes, and expand automated test coverage for modern open networking solutions. You will work closely with engineering teams and contribute to the delivery of reliable software for real production environments.
This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys networking, Linux, automation, and hands-on troubleshooting in technically demanding systems.
Responsibilities
- Validate SONiC and SONiC Lite functionality across networking features, platform behaviors, and software releases
- Reproduce, analyze, and verify defects found in integration, system, and customer-simulated environments
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases and test suites using Python and Bash
- Expand test coverage for Layer 2, Layer 3, platform, and system-level scenarios
- Analyze requirements, design notes, and test documentation to define effective verification scopes
- Execute functional, regression, and system testing for SONiC-based products and related hardware platforms
- Investigate failures using logs, packet captures, CLI output, and Linux diagnostic tools
- Maintain test results, defect reports, and verification documentation
- Improve build, test, and lab workflows through scripting and automation
- Collaborate with developers and senior engineers to isolate root causes and validate fixes
- Contribute to internal R&D, framework improvements, and reusable validation assets
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial experience in QA, test automation, software validation, or verification
- Solid Python skills for test automation and troubleshooting
- Practical experience with Bash and Linux as a main working environment
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals and Layer 2 / Layer 3 protocols
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and test documentation
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Gerrit, or Gitlab)
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering team
- Intermediate or higher level of technical English
Nice to Have
- Experience with SONiC and/or SAI validation
- Experience with Pytest, PTF, or similar networking test frameworks
- Experience with traffic generators and network testing tools (IXIA, Scapy, T-Rex, or Spirent)
- Familiarity with Wireshark, tcpdump, and Linux network troubleshooting tools
- Experience with virtualization, Docker, and Python virtual environments
- Exposure to open-source development environments and communities
- Experience with enterprise-grade equipment, such as switches, routers, or disaggregated networking platforms
