Compliance / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (UK)
Location: London, United Kingdom

PayDo is an Electronic Money Institution, providing modern payment solutions to businesses across global markets. Our platform brings together multicurrency IBANs, merchant solutions, mass payments, acquiring, and open banking, helping online businesses manage their payments through one platform.
As PayDo continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Compliance / AML Officer to strengthen our UK financial crime compliance framework and help us stay ahead of an increasingly complex regulatory environment. This is not a box-ticking role. You’ll work on complex AML/CTF investigations, suspicious activity reporting, regulatory requirements, financial crime risk assessments, regulatory change, and strategic compliance projects. You’ll have the opportunity to influence senior stakeholders and help shape the controls that support a growing payments business.
If you enjoy combining regulatory expertise, analytical thinking, and practical problem-solving, this could be a great next step in your career.
Responsibilities
- Work on complex AML/CTF investigations, strategic compliance projects, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Lead or oversee investigations into suspicious activity, including internal SARs and external SAR filings.
- Respond to regulatory initiatives by providing leadership and direction on projects required to meet our regulatory obligations.
- Support long-term compliance strategy and enhance the departmental governance framework, ensuring policies and procedures remain fit for purpose.
- Create and implement AML/CTF policies, procedures, and operational SOPs, including processes for identifying, assessing, reporting, and filing suspicious activity.
- Conduct comprehensive AML/CTF and financial crime risk assessments across the Company.
- Prepare, review, and submit regulatory reports, including SARs to the NCA, REP-CRIM, financial crime returns, and supplementary reports requested by the FCA or external auditors.
- Prepare Board and MLRO reports, governance papers, and management information, providing clear recommendations to strengthen the control framework and improve the performance of the function.
- Act as an internal source of expertise, providing guidance and sound judgment on regulatory obligations, audits, regulatory engagement, compliance risks, and business development.
- Support ongoing regulatory compliance and act as a key liaison with the FCA and other relevant UK authorities.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Operations teams to strengthen internal AML controls and support the implementation of risk mitigation and transaction monitoring strategies.
- Support AML training, audits, and assessments/testing of system effectiveness.
Requirements
- 3+ years of AML and Compliance experience within financial services, an EMI, PSP, bank, or fintech environment.
- Strong practical understanding of the UK AML/CTF framework and FCA requirements applicable to EMIs.
- Demonstrated expertise in establishing, maintaining, and enhancing CDD/EDD processes, transaction monitoring, and financial crime risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience in financial crime prevention, including AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, investigations, and transaction monitoring, as well as liaison with law enforcement.
- Experience designing and documenting policies, procedures, operational guidance, presentations, and training materials.
- Strong awareness of financial crime risks relevant to digital payments, cross-border transactions, fraud typologies, sanctions exposure, high-risk jurisdictions, and fintech delivery channels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of responsibility and ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience as a Deputy MLRO / MLRO within an EMI, PSP, or banking institution.
- Experience with UK regulatory reporting and FCA liaison.
- Professional qualifications such as ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent.
- Experience with Visa/Mastercard reporting processes and liaison.
- Experience in the cryptocurrency industry and/or acquiring products.
- A legal education.
We Offer
- Opportunity to influence how a growing fintech manages financial crime risk.
- Room to grow with the business as PayDo scales.
- Participation in the PayDo Ideas Hub to propose improvements and receive financial rewards for valuable ideas.
- A culture that values ownership, proactivity, evidence-based decision-making, practical solutions, and quality impact.
