Job description

About the Position

We are seeking a Mobile Developer (Android, React Native) to join our team in Malaysia. You will build and support customer-facing mobile features for a large, multi-year engineering transformation serving Australia and New Zealand. You will work in balanced agile teams and help adopt an AI-assisted delivery approach, using tools like GitHub Copilot to improve speed, quality, and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mobile applications using Android Java, React Native, and React.
  • Build new mobile features and enhance existing functionality with a focus on performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners to clarify requirements and deliver iteratively.
  • Support production operations, including incident triage, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Improve code quality through reviews, refactoring, and practical test automation where applicable.
  • Communicate delivery status, risks, and technical decisions to distributed stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of mobile engineering practices, including AI-assisted workflows.
  • Participate in on-call support coverage as needed to meet operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java for Android mobile development.
  • Strong independent coding capability. While we encourage using AI tools for productivity, you must be able to write, evaluate, and troubleshoot code autonomously rather than relying on AI to generate solutions.
  • Skill sets in React Native for building and maintaining production mobile apps.
  • Proficiency in React to support feature delivery and shared UI patterns.
  • Background in mobile application development across build, release, and support cycles.
  • Agile delivery experience in cross-functional teams (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
  • Clear communication in English for distributed collaboration.
  • Problem-solving approach for debugging, incident resolution, and prioritization changes.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Android SDK for deeper native integrations.
  • Exposure to Node.js or Apache Airflow in adjacent systems.
  • Interest in AI-assisted engineering practices (for example, GitHub Copilot).
  • Experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
