About the Position
Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Intern (BioGov)
Project Name: Biodiversity Governance Innovation Programme (BioGov)
Job Type: Full-time, unpaid internship
Location of Position: Paramaribo, Suriname (hybrid/remote arrangements possible; accommodation can be made for students currently enrolled in school)
Reporting to: BioGov Field Project Manager, Alinea International Paramaribo office
Remuneration: Unpaid internship
Indicative LOE/Time Frame: Full time, 1 September 2026 – 31 January 2027 (4-6 months / 16-24 weeks)

Responsibilities
- Review key project documents to gain a strong understanding of the project’s anticipated results, implementation strategies, monitoring framework, and partnerships
- Collaborate with the MEL Manager to design, develop, and establish the project’s MEL database and system, including creating templates, tools, and forms to support ongoing MEL activities
- Support the project team in data collection and data entry
- Undertake desk research on the identification and prioritization of localization obligations under key B-MEAs and national biodiversity policies, compiling relevant policy and regulatory information
- Participate in project meetings and activities via hybrid or remote platforms, providing logistical support and contributing to documentation (note-taking and follow-up actions)
- Support project communications by capturing photos, videos, and participant testimonials, and assisting in the development and review of communications materials such as blog posts, short articles, social media content, and stories of change
- Ensure compliance with Alinea’s documentation requirements, including obtaining informed consent from participants for the use of stories, photographs, and videos in communications
- Contribute to donor-facing processes by supporting the preparation and review of key deliverables, including semi-annual operations reports and final results reports
- Provide administrative and logistical assistance to facilitate the effective and timely implementation of project activities
- Assist the Field Project Manager with additional ad hoc tasks as required
Requirements

Core Skills:
- An undergraduate degree in sociology, biology, environment, biodiversity and conservation, international affairs, or a related field (essential)
- Computer skills with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word) and other relevant packages (essential)
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills (essential)
- Fluency in English and Dutch (essential)

Secondary Skills:
- Enrolment in, or completion of, a Master’s programme in a related field (desirable)
- Working knowledge of local languages, such as Sranan Tongo, Indigenous or Maroon languages (desirable)
