Operational Director

About the Position

Ailleron Careers is seeking an experienced Operational Director for one of our key fintech areas. The ideal candidate will take responsibility for managing a large delivery department (50+ people) and ensuring the successful execution of the company's business strategy. This role involves overseeing financial results (P&L), managing the IT project portfolio, and scaling the department in a dynamic IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Managing a multi-level production department structure (50+ people)
• Delegating tasks and ensuring execution by Project Managers and team leaders
• Organizing team work and optimal division of responsibilities
• Developing and scaling the department according to business and contractual needs
• Building and developing team competencies and organizational culture

Zarządzanie delivery i projektami IT

• Managing the IT project portfolio
• Organizing and overseeing the software production process
• Identifying and solving delivery issues
• Ensuring business continuity and managing operational risk
• Managing escalations and making decisions in high-risk situations

Finanse i efektywność operacyjna

• Defining, controlling, and overseeing the production budget
• Responsibility for the department's financial results (P&L: budget, revenue, profitability)
• Continuous cost optimization and efficient resource utilization
• Preparing reports on production performance
• Creating and enforcing KPIs and OKRs

• Participation in sales and tender processes (from offer to delivery)
• Negotiating commercial terms and agreements, especially in the area of system implementation and maintenance
• Building and maintaining relationships with key clients
• Co-creating production strategies and operational plans and overseeing their implementation

Requirements

• Higher education in technical (IT) or management/project management fields
• Experience in software houses, outsourcing, or product companies
• Minimum 5 years of experience in roles related to managing software production teams (e.g., Operational Director, Delivery Manager) in the IT industry
• Knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Nexus) and the classical Waterfall approach
• Very good knowledge of the software production and delivery process
• Basic technical knowledge in software development
• Experience in organizational transformations or scaling organizations (startup/growth stage)
• Highly developed leadership and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Knowledge of project portfolio management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project) and tools supporting team work
• Very good knowledge of English (min. B2+)
