Description language:

About the Position

Ciklum is looking for an Ops Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine. We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts, and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live.

As an Ops Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. Our company is seeking a Senior-Level Operations Engineer with a broad skill set to support our busy Ops & Cybersecurity team. This generalist role is ideal for a hands-on professional who can wear multiple hats across infrastructure, cloud, security, and IT support to keep systems running smoothly. The primary goal of this position is to design, automate, and maintain a secure, scalable, and reliable AWS cloud infrastructure and observability baseline that enables our product teams to build and deploy autonomously.

This position is remote-friendly, meaning you can effectively collaborate with our distributed team and contribute to key initiatives from anywhere. If you have a passion for streamlining operations, improving systems, and helping multiple facets of IT, this role offers a diverse range of challenges and learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management

    • Maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and core network systems while ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency.
    • Automate routine configuration tasks whenever feasible to minimize manual effort.
  • Developer Enablement

    • Maintain and improve developer infrastructure, while setting up the tools and best practices our developers need to stay productive and secure.
  • Workstations Management

    • Oversee the provisioning and maintenance of employee workstations. This includes leveraging Jamf Pro to enforce security configurations and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Identity & Access Management

    • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding with HR, keep SSO integrations and role-based access up to date, and run regular access audits to enforce least privilege.
  • Security & Compliance Support

    • Support day-to-day security operations by patching servers and endpoints, fixing vulnerabilities, and helping out with incident detection and response.
    • Help keep us compliant with security frameworks (like ISO 27001) by assisting with audits, remediation plans, and documentation.
  • Support & IT Operations

    • Provide general IT support to internal teams to ensure seamless daily operations. Key responsibilities include triaging and resolving workstation hardware and software issues, managing software licensing, and provisioning access to third-party applications.
    • Where applicable, support office IT infrastructure by remotely troubleshooting conferencing systems and local networks, or coordinating with on-site personnel and vendors for physical support.
  • Automation & Documentation

    • Drive process improvements by automating routine tasks and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
    • Use Python scripting and other relevant tooling to automate recurring operational processes, including deployments, health checks, user provisioning, and system configurations.
    • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key operations workflows to ensure knowledge base accuracy, operational efficiency, and procedural consistency across the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Cloud Operations, DevOps, Systems Administrator, or similar role, preferably in a broad technical environment.
  • Cloud
    • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services.
    • Including multi-account setups using AWS Organizations, AWS IAM Identity Center with external IdP integrations, experience in building infrastructure aligned with CIS AWS Benchmarks, and driving cost optimization.
    • Solid background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Proficient with AWS CloudTrail and CloudWatch for debugging and tracking changes.
  • Networking
    • Hands-on experience in building and maintaining VPCs across multi-account AWS environments.
    • Key expertise includes network segmentation (public, private, and isolated tiers), environment isolation (production vs. non-production), and configuring NAT instances, VPC peering, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS WAF, AWS Network Firewall, and VPN access for protected networks.
  • Scripting & Automation
    • Proficiency with Python scripting or programming.
    • We use Python alongside AWS CDK to define our infrastructure as code, as well as for writing scripts and small tools to automate routine tasks and integrate with cloud services and third-party APIs.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to document procedures clearly and explain tech concepts to teammates or stakeholders.
    • Comfortable working remotely, collaborating over chat and video, and managing your own time and tasks with minimal supervision.
