About the Position
Join an international HR and payroll services provider as a senior-level Payroll Consultant specializing in German payroll. This role goes beyond standard payroll processing - you will be the go-to expert for complex cases, supporting large institutions and organizations with advanced payroll challenges. Working closely with clients and internal teams, you will ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of payroll processes while operating in a highly autonomous, advisory capacity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior expert in German payroll, supporting complex and non-standard payroll cases
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients such as public institutions and large organizations
- Analyze payroll-related inquiries submitted via internal platforms and identify root causes
- Provide advisory support on payroll regulations, tax compliance, and system usage
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and propose effective solutions independently
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve and standardize payroll processes and software solutions
- Translate business needs into recommendations for system or process enhancements
- Support error analysis and document findings for further product or system improvements
- Communicate with clients to resolve different cases, choosing the most effective communication channel
Requirements
- Very good command of German and English
- Extensive, hands-on experience in German payroll (end-to-end process knowledge)
- Ability to work as an expert-level specialist (equivalent to senior/consultant level, without team management)
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, especially in complex scenarios
- Experience working with payroll systems and MS Office tools
- High level of ownership and customer-oriented approach
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and identify inconsistencies in payroll processes
- Experience working with public sector clients (e.g. healthcare, education, administration) - nice to have
