About the Position

People & Culture Advisor - US - Remote

At Moodle, we’re on a mission to empower educators and learners worldwide with open, flexible, and innovative digital learning solutions. As the world’s most customizable and trusted open-source LMS, we partner with schools, universities, and organizations to create better learning experiences for millions. If you’re ready to make a real impact, and be part of a global movement shaping the future of learning, join us. Let's transform education together!

Responsibilities

As our People & Culture Advisor, you’ll join a global People & Culture team that supports more than 280 team members in over 25 countries. You’ll be the go-to HR advisor for our team members and managers in the US, and you’ll support US payroll and coordinate benefits administration.

  • Advising team members and managers on policies, leave, benefits, and day-to-day people questions.
  • Driving end-to-end recruitment on a global scale, supporting hiring managers, and ensuring a great candidate experience.
  • Managing onboarding processes so new team members get a smooth start, wherever they are located.
  • Coaching managers through general ER issues (e.g. probation reviews and informal performance, conduct, and attendance concerns) and knowing when to escalate complex cases.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on US federal and state employment requirements.
  • Coordinating US benefits administration: enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, the annual broker review, and helping team members understand and use their benefits throughout the year.
  • Working with Finance to process semi-monthly US payroll, including commissions, bonuses, final paychecks, garnishments, and new state registrations.
  • Maintaining our HR systems, driving our global HR processes, and looking for ways to improve them.
  • Opportunity to support L&D, OD, and engagement initiatives on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Strong HR generalist experience, including direct experience supporting a US workforce. Bonus if it’s within the tech industry and/or a remote-first organization.
  • Solid working knowledge of US federal and state employment laws, and experience applying them in practice. Multi-state experience is a big plus.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating US benefits and payroll processes (e.g. health plans, 401(k), open enrollment).
  • Experience advising on employee relations matters and coaching managers through sensitive conversations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to quickly build trust and credibility with people at every level.
  • Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to organize and prioritize your own workload in a remote environment.
  • Confidence with HR and recruitment systems (BambooHR experience is a bonus).
  • Experience in a global or multi-location organization, working across time zones, paired with cultural awareness to adapt your style to effectively bridge differences.
  • Experience contributing to engagement initiatives and building a positive workplace culture.
  • Experience working within security compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP and SOC2 is a plus (but not required).

We Offer

  • Salary range of $75,000 - $85,000, depending upon experience.
  • A flexible, distributed role, working remotely from anywhere on the east coast of the US. You may sometimes have early or late calls to connect with colleagues in Europe and APAC.
  • A fantastic range of benefits, focusing on work-life balance, wellbeing, and ‘choosing your own adventure.’
  • Health insurance plans to fit your life, with up to 100% employer contribution, as well as vision, dental, and group life and AD&D. Plus a wide variety of voluntary insurances.
  • Working with a global team on a worldwide platform to make a real difference.
  • As a certified B Corp, we are proud to be part of a global community of mission-driven companies dedicated to using business as a force for good.
