About the Position

We are seeking a Pharmacist at PHARMACY SERVICES LLC in Whittier, CA to join our team and ensure the safe and effective use of medications.

Responsibilities

• Filling and Dispensing Medication Orders: Proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy.
• Maintaining Standards: Translating policies and procedures into daily pharmacy operations.
• Information Resource: Providing information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information.
• Supervising Technicians: Overseeing activities of technicians and intern pharmacists in procurement, preparation, and distribution of medication.
• Planning and Organizing: Scheduling work for supportive personnel and pharmacists as required.
• Professional Conduct: Displaying a positive and professional attitude and work habits.
• Professional/Clinical Activities: Reviewing physician orders, selecting compounds, dispensing medication, and monitoring for contraindications, incompatibilities, allergies, and dosing errors.
• Communication: Communicating with MD's, Nursing staff, and Pharmacists pertaining to patient care.
• Quality Assurance: Performing monthly nursing unit inspections and participating in Quality Assurance audits per JCAHO requirements.
• Adverse Drug Reactions and Medication Errors: Detection and reporting of adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
• Clinical Pharmacy Program: Utilizing basic pharmacokinetic principles and monitoring parameters for established drug protocols.
• Drug Information: Providing drug information to physicians, nurses, and patients pertinent to drug selection, adverse effects, drug interaction, dose, etc.
• Drug Use Reviews: Conducting drug use reviews (target drug reviews) and participation in patient care audits.
• Professional Conduct: Demonstrating the philosophy of the team concept and participating in staff meetings with suggestions that enhance the work environment and increase productivity.
• Guest/Interdepartmental Relations: Conducting all interactions in a professional manner and consistently exhibiting appropriate phone protocol.
• Professional Growth and Development: Completing annual safety updates, general and departmental orientation, and attending in-service programs.
• Performance Improvement: Consistently striving to understand, anticipate, and meet the needs, expectations, and satisfaction levels of patients and other "customers".

Requirements

• Minimum Education: BS Degree in Pharmacy
• Minimum Experience: 2 years in an acute care setting
• Required Certification/Registration: Registered in CA as Pharmacist. ACLS, PALS, and BCLS required.
