Job description

About the Position

Platform Engineer

Location: Bangalore, India

Who we are:

Axi is a leading global provider of margin and deliverable Foreign Exchange, Contracts for Difference (CFDs), and Financial Spread betting. Our business has evolved into a world-class, multifaceted brokerage with offices in six regions. With heavy investment in the latest trading technology, Axi seeks to offer the most comprehensive end-to-end trading experience available, servicing traders of all levels from beginners to institutional-level clients.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join our Platform Development team. You will design, build, and run the internal platform that our product engineering teams depend on: secure, self-service Azure infrastructure delivered through GitOps and infrastructure as code, engineered for a 99.99% uptime target.

This is a hands-on engineering role with 7-10 years of experience expected. You will treat the platform as a product, owning its stability, performance, and running cost. Expect to spend your time automating away toil, shortening the path from commit to production, and making the platform both cheaper and more reliable quarter over quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate our internal developer platform as a product, with paved paths, golden templates, and self-service capabilities for product teams
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform
  • Own platform stability and availability against a 99.99% uptime target, including SLOs, error budgets, and capacity planning
  • Design for resilience: high availability, multi-zone deployments, graceful degradation, backup and disaster recovery, and regular failure testing
  • Drive cloud cost optimisation through rightsizing, autoscaling, reserved capacity, spot workloads, and removal of idle resources
  • Build cost visibility and accountability, tagging and attributing spend so teams can see and manage the cost of what they run
  • Run GitOps-based delivery on Kubernetes with FluxCD, keeping cluster state declarative, reviewable, and reproducible
  • Build and evolve Azure DevOps pipelines for reliable, low-friction deployments, including one-click releases, safe rollbacks, and parameterised builds
  • Package and standardise workloads with Docker and Kubernetes across environments
  • Improve observability across the platform with metrics, logs, traces, and actionable alerting so teams can see, measure, and debug their own services
  • Reduce operational noise: tune alerts, remove recurring failure modes, and run blameless post-incident reviews that lead to permanent fixes
  • Embed non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, and cost into platform design by default rather than as an afterthought
  • Partner with product engineering teams to fold platform and operational concerns into design, build, and release
  • Provide Level 2/3 support for platform components, finding root causes and shipping permanent fixes
  • Continuously reduce manual work, cycle time, and operational overhead across the engineering organisation

Requirements

Must-have skills

  • FluxCD, for GitOps-based continuous delivery on Kubernetes
  • Terraform, for infrastructure as code at scale
  • Azure cloud, including core services, networking, identity, and governance
  • Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repos, and release automation
  • Kubernetes, including deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production clusters
  • Docker, including container build, image hygiene, and runtime fundamentals
  • Running highly available production systems and holding availability targets such as 99.99%
  • Cloud cost management and optimisation on Azure

Good-to-have skills

  • Cloud security, including posture management, secrets handling, and policy enforcement
  • GitOps practices and tooling beyond FluxCD
  • ArgoCD
  • OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and modern observability pipelines
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Site Reliability Engineering practices such as SLOs, error budgets, and chaos testing
  • FinOps practices and cloud cost governance

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
  • A product mindset, treating internal engineers as your customers
  • Sound judgement under pressure during incidents, with a calm and structured approach
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams and managing competing priorities
  • Proactive, with a bias towards continuous improvement

We Offer

  • Competitive and attractive compensation.
  • Extensive learning opportunities, such as professional training and certifications and soft skills development.
  • 18 annual leave days per year.
  • 12 sick days leave per year.
  • Public holidays as declared by local government.
  • Maternity leave as per law.
  • Health Insurance.
