Platform Engineering Tech Lead, Cloud - Infra

About the Position

As a Platform Engineering Tech Lead, Cloud - Infra, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for a team responsible for building and operating cloud and platform capabilities that power our applications and customer experiences.

Your primary focus will be AWS, cloud, edge, and platform technologies, while working closely with other Platform Engineering specialists, including our Kubernetes Tech Lead. You will help shape technical solutions, work with Architects, build POCs, review implementations, and get hands-on with the technology when needed.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the technology while also helping engineers solve complex problems, raising engineering standards, and driving the platform forward.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership – Shape technical solutions with Architects, define technical approaches, conduct POCs, and drive engineering standards across cloud, edge, and platform technologies.
• Build and enable the team – Coach and unblock engineers, share knowledge, and promote collaboration so that knowledge is distributed and no single person becomes a point of failure. Support technical assessments and code reviews.
• Drive reliability and operational excellence – Lead technical incident response and RCA, ensuring solutions are production-ready, resilient, and have appropriate rollback strategies.
• Observability as a first-class concern – Including logs, metrics, traces, and SLOs.
• Drive cloud and platform evolution – Build and improve AWS-based capabilities through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and modern platform engineering practices, while identifying opportunities for innovation and modernization.
• Collaborate across Platform Engineering – Work closely with Kubernetes, Observability, Delivery, Security, and Architecture teams to ensure our platform operates as a cohesive ecosystem.

Requirements

• Strong experience in AWS and cloud engineering in production environments.
• Experience with AWS edge and networking technologies, such as CloudFront, Route 53, WAF, load balancing, CDN, and edge computing.
• Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized platforms and the ability to work effectively alongside Kubernetes specialists.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, particularly Terraform and Ansible, along with modern CI/CD practices.
• Comfortable remaining hands-on with code, infrastructure, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with code reviews, technical design discussions, and POCs.
• Strong understanding of observability and reliability, including logs, metrics, traces, and SLOs.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership without relying on formal management authority.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks.

Nice to Have

• Experience with CloudFront, Route 53, WAF, load balancing, CDN, and edge computing.
• Experience with technical design discussions and POCs.
