About the Position
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional for the project “Power4JustTransition” to fill the position of the PR and Communication Specialist (full-time, Kyiv). This role will focus on managing communication strategies for GIZ projects in Ukraine, emphasizing energy efficiency and climate initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the communication needs of three projects, including one large-scale project.
- Create innovative and high-quality outreach strategies to strengthen the visibility of the donation campaign via different channels and instruments.
- Create outreach activities for four regions in Ukraine.
- Create and coordinate all digital and offline PR activities of the projects.
- Write and manage contracts with PR agencies and PR services according to company goals.
- Create and implement communication concepts and strategies.
- Write concepts on communication products and processes and advise the Cluster on it.
- Translate complex topics on energy security, energy efficiency, and climate topics into accurate and understandable language.
- Deliver high-quality communication products such as presentations, videos, press releases, newsletters, posts on websites, social media, fact sheets, etc.
- Create and manage communication support to high-level events at the national level, including interministerial meetings, bilateral briefings, and public discussions.
- Create and manage innovative formats for social media channels in a very short time.
- Write and implement concepts for internal communication formats.
- Prepare interviews and manage field visits with national and international press.
- Monitor results and integrate measures for optimization into work.
- Use Artificial Intelligence to ease processes.
- Manage reliable and convincing communication with a broad range of stakeholders from national and regional partners, international donors, and implementing organizations, other GIZ projects, and the GIZ country office.
- Support projects with strategic orientation of communication to various target groups, while presenting a consistent corporate image and communicating GIZ corporate policy and strategy to staff in the cluster.
- Ensure communication among the projects effectively, e.g., introducing and moderating useful communication tools. Provide them proactively with information on the basis of equal treatment of all projects in the energy and climate portfolio.
Requirements
- University degree or comparable training in PR / Communication or equivalent education.
- At least 7 years of work experience in the field of communication (Press and Public Relations, social media, Journalism, or similar) - ideally in a related technical field (knowledge of energy (efficiency) is required).
- Experience in working with international donors or local NGOs.
- Experience in creating and implementing communication concepts on a regional level.
- Experience with outreach activities and trainings.
- High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English.
- Experience in writing of contracts and control and briefing of service providers and agencies.
- Very good oral and writing skills; competent and confident style of communication and presentation with public and target-oriented groups.
- Experience in production of media for different information channels.
- Knowledge of publishing and graphics applications is desired.
- Proficient use of MS Office Package.
- Open-minded team player with excellent intercultural competences.

- Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and organizational skills.

Employment conditions:
Full-time position with a 40-hour working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible. The contract duration will be 12 months with the possibility of prolongation.
