J. Schmalz GmbH in Glatten, Germany, is offering an exciting opportunity for a manufacturing internship. This role focuses on process optimization and automation within the production environment.

Responsibilities

Support the planning and control of manufacturing processes and actively participate in optimization measures to make operations more efficient.
Collaborate on the design and planning of transport systems and develop solutions for automated material transport of raw materials, setup carts, and washing baskets.
Analyze existing washing and cleaning processes, develop improvement suggestions to enhance quality, and identify potential for energy savings.
Research the use of artificial intelligence in manufacturing and assist in the conception of intelligent machine planning and digital shop floor management solutions.
Accompany various manufacturing processes, support the creation of test plans, and gain insights into collaboration with external suppliers and the management of purchased parts.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university or college, ideally in a program such as Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Ideally, you have completed a vocational training in a technical field or have gained valuable practical experience that provides a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
You have excellent German language skills (B2/C1 level).
You work in a structured, detail-oriented, and independent manner, and maintain an overview even with complex data sets.
You possess analytical thinking and the ability to derive concrete action recommendations from data and to visualize complex relationships comprehensibly.

Nice to Have

Experience in automation or digital manufacturing solutions.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++.
