About the Role

As a Principal AI Engineer at SQUER, you will play a pivotal role in planning and coordinating the AI-enhanced development of new digital initiatives for our clients. Your work will significantly contribute to the success of projects, allowing you to independently create architectures and utilize cutting-edge, customized technologies.

Responsibilities

Act as a Thought Leader and actively shape SQUER and projects through open communication and teamwork.
Lead clients in their AI adoption, developing their AI vision and target picture, and translating these into a concrete, prioritized transformation roadmap.
Support multiple teams by solving significant challenges in both frontend and backend development.
Introduce or improve AI usage in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) across client engineering teams, delivering successful software solutions.
Engage in all phases of software development in an interdisciplinary manner, sharing your knowledge as a sparring partner and coach.
Be an active member of agile SCRUM teams, spreading SQUER culture with a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements

Experience and big-picture thinking to create solutions that generate sustainable impact for clients.
Proficiency in using AI-powered tools (e.g., code assistants, LLM-based workflows) to enhance productivity and quality.
Several years of experience in software architecture, cloud-native development, and containerization (Docker or Kubernetes).
Solid knowledge of frontend and backend development, with a keen interest in relevant trends.
Hands-on mentality and proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, Clojure, Javascript, Typescript, Rust, or Go.
Continuous improvement of AI adoption throughout the SDLC, resolving bottlenecks, and enabling software teams in all disciplines.
Commitment to training and skill development, with a passion for passing on acquired knowledge.
Fluency in English and German (written and spoken) for effective communication with colleagues and partners.

Nice to Have

Experience with agile SCRUM methodologies.
Coaching and mentoring skills.
Proficiency in German.
