Principal Backend Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking a Principal Backend Engineer with over 10 years of software engineering experience to join our global financial services organization in Beijing, China. Our client is a leading global financial markets infrastructure and data provider, dedicated to driving financial stability, empowering economies, and enabling customers to create sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Implement business logic on AWS Cloud and Azure Cloud.
• Enhance and support data systems from end to end.
• Program and test software with clean, readable, and maintainable code.
• Follow best practices in software development.
• Collaborate closely with other project key roles: QA, BA, and Scrum master.
• Troubleshoot in codebases and improve production service with new technologies.
• Be accountable for quick response to service issues.

Requirements

Must have:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience (including at least 5+ years in a developer role and 3+ years hands-on experience with AWS Cloud or Azure Cloud).
• Hands-on experience with AWS (or Azure equivalent): Lambda, ECS, SQS, Dynamo, Opensearch, API Gateway, Event Bridge, etc.
• In-depth experience with Java programming and testing framework.
• Experience with Workflow concept and tools like BAW, Camunda, Flowable, etc.
• Experience with development, integration, deployment, and operation of distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with CICD, Git, and Terraform.
• Experience with SQL and DB programming.
• Experience with Python programming.
• Good knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodology.
• Good English communication skills are required.
• Effective communication skill is a must.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Financial Data processing and/or ETL tools is a plus.
• A degree in a relevant subject, or can show how you've built up your experience and skills over time 'on-the-job'.
• Knowledge of professional financial data process system design is a bonus.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or Information Technologies is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Passed CET-6 or equivalent English test.
