About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead our M&E Design Team in Liverpool, focusing on high-quality multi-disciplinary design solutions. This role is suited to a Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET, with experience leading design teams in the M&E sector. The successful candidate will be keen to work with a main contractor that values collaboration, trust, and a focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Service in leading and managing the Liverpool-based M&E team.
- Lead the delivery of high-quality M&E designs across new build, refurbishment, and minor works projects.
- Manage team performance, utilisation, and development.
- Oversee technical delivery including feasibility studies, multi-stage designs, specifications, condition reports, and technical advice.
- Maintain and apply engineering standards, QA procedures, document control, and Health & Safety policies.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across public and private sector projects.
- Contribute to business development, including compiling fee proposals, quality submissions, bids, presentations, and winning new work.
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across the M&E service.
- Represent Kier within industry sectors, contributing to forums, working groups, and industry engagement.
- Supervise and mentor junior and less experienced members of the team.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in relevant field
- Senior engineering experience and proven project delivery
- Leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and strong communication skills
- Quality assurance and document control expertise
- BPSS clearance required
