About the Position

Principal Engineer - Consumer & Merchant Experience

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Consumer & Merchant Experience area at InPost Technology. This is a senior Individual Contributor role with an international scope and organization-wide impact. You will help define the long-term technology direction, shape architectural standards, and solve complex technical problems spanning multiple teams and domains.

Responsibilities

• Define architectural standards across the technology organization.
• Identify and address systemic technical challenges spanning multiple domains.
• Shape engineering principles, practices, and technology standards.
• Contribute to the organization’s technology strategy for AI.
• Lead cross-team and cross-domain technical initiatives.
• Mentor Staff Engineers and help develop the next generation of technical leaders.
• Support technical due diligence related to strategic partnerships and M&A.
• Represent InPost in the engineering community through conferences, publications, and industry initiatives.
• Work with technical and business stakeholders to connect architectural direction with product needs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of technical impact beyond a single team, in a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent role.
• Experience making architectural decisions with long-term impact across multiple teams.
• A strong engineering background and the ability to engage in detailed technical discussions.
• Experience building customer-facing products and influencing their technical and product direction.
• Experience establishing engineering standards and mentoring senior engineers.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and large language models to enhance productivity, accelerate development, and solve complex problems.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and apply them responsibly within professional workflows.
• Experience working with public cloud and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong knowledge of scalability, reliability, observability, APIs, and system integration.
• The ability to communicate effectively with both engineering teams and C-level stakeholders.
• Professional proficiency in English at C1 level.

Nice to Have

• Experience in logistics, e-commerce, or marketplace environments.
• Experience with on-premises to cloud migrations.
• Experience designing large-scale mobile or web applications.
• Knowledge of security and data protection.
• Experience with payment, notification, or tracking systems, including event-driven and real-time architectures.
• Experience working in an international environment.
• Previous experience in a managerial role.
• Cloud certifications, such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect.

Technology Background

Java is our preferred backend technology, but we are open to candidates from other backend ecosystems. What matters most is your depth of engineering experience, architectural judgment, and track record of working with complex systems at scale.

Experience with mobile and web applications will be valuable, as the role is strongly connected to customer-facing products.
