Principal Product Manager, Sandboxes
Primary stack
Job description
About the Position
We are seeking a Principal Product Manager for Docker Sandboxes to lead strategic product development and drive adoption in secure, isolated execution environments for developers and AI agents.
About Docker
Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world's largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.
We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.
Responsibilities
- Own Docker Sandboxes, its long-term vision, roadmap, revenue, adoption, and results.
- Engage deeply with developers building AI agents, coding environments, CI and testing systems, and other workloads that require secure, isolated execution.
- Guide product definition, feature prioritization, and scope in concert with engineering, design, security, operations, and go-to-market teams.
- Work with customers and cross-functional teams to hypothesize, measure adoption and impact, learn from releases, and continually improve the roadmap.
Requirements
- Deep empathy for the needs of developers and experience talking to users.
- Prior professional experience as a software engineer, ideally in systems, infrastructure, platform engineering, developer tools, or cloud.
- Strong technical familiarity with sandboxes/microVMs, containers, virtualization technologies, and hypervisors.
- Experience designing, building, or operating systems that execute customer-provided, untrusted, or agent-generated code at scale.
- Ability to break down complex technical problems into small, releasable, user-valuable features.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas simply and effectively.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions and prioritize investments.
- Collaborative approach, experience running products from greenfield to scale, and the ability to work with fast-moving, distributed, cross-functional teams.
What to Expect
First 30 Days
- Get to know Docker: our vision, mission, and values.
- Understand the Docker Sandboxes team's mission, product strategy, and technical architecture.
- Meet the team along with peers across the business unit and company.
- Work closely with designers, researchers, engineers, security partners, and customers to understand user needs and current pain points.
- Work with your manager and team to review and create quarterly goals.
- Understand the product roadmap, key technical and business tradeoffs, and the data available to make data-driven decisions.
First 90 Days
- Understand the company's and business unit's product vision and how Docker Sandboxes contributes to it.
- Provide clarity on product vision, target users, priority use cases, and how the team contributes to the overall success of Docker.
- Develop a deep understanding of our developers and customers, how they use isolated environments, and why they choose Docker.
- Shape the team roadmap and product strategy in close collaboration with design, engineering, security, and go-to-market peers.
- Lead the definition of team OKRs and success metrics for the quarter, and provide clear progress reports.
One Year Outlook
- Lead product initiatives across cross-functional teams that make secure, isolated execution simple and valuable for developers and AI agents.
- Drive the long-term direction of Docker Sandboxes, including improvements to adoption, ecosystem integration, reliability, scale, unit economics, and ARR.
