About the Position

The High Performance Compute (HPC) team at Renesas is seeking an experienced Principal Program Manager to join our Program Management Office (PMO). The HPC PMO oversees the NPI development process, IP process, and 3rd party management process. This role involves driving change initiatives, continuous improvement, and partnering with stakeholders across HPC and the wider Renesas organization. The team provides a consolidated view of execution across HPC, acting as a central conduit for escalation and resolution of cross-portfolio issues.

This role will have a broad and varied remit, focusing on activities that directly support the HPC Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief of Staff. Key responsibilities include driving continuous improvement initiatives, change management, handling critical escalation topics, managing business processes, and supporting senior stakeholders in decision-making. Critical aspects of the role include execution on tight timelines, budget responsibility, escalation path ownership, monitoring and reporting of progress, comparison of performance against goals (technical and commercial), and overall program ownership and accountability. The role requires creating and leading cross-functional teams, including senior stakeholders, and communicating with internal executive leadership. HPC is distributed globally, including Japan, India, Vietnam, and the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Understand expected outcomes and timelines, synthesize and communicate goals to the team and stakeholders to ensure alignment on approach and successful output.
  • Complete responsibility for given projects with strong exposure to executive leadership from Renesas and key partners.
  • Establish, drive, and maintain the overall program plan, including regular program reporting to both internal and external teams.
  • Define milestones and track on a regular basis. Highlight issues and build options for mitigation/resolution. Ensure risk analysis is complete and maintained, including options and trigger dates.
  • Organize and hold regular team meetings to drive progress. Create regular data-driven updates for internal and external consumers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across multiple locations to deliver the program.
  • Maintain budgets and highlight changes against the plan.
  • Suggest and deliver process improvements in conjunction with senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of Experience: Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-disciplined global programs within the semiconductor or high-tech sector.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including technical milestones, risk assessment, and commercial gate reviews.
  • Strives for continual improvement in all aspects of work, including policies and methodology.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams across diverse geographies and navigating complex cultural and time-zone dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address the real root cause of issues.
  • Rapid response – identifying issues in advance, and the right owners to address these.
  • Tenacity – Ensuring end-to-end execution through proactive ownership and persistence.
  • Ability to propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
