Principal Software Architect

About the Position

As Principal Software Architect, you will define and drive the future technology architecture for Hii Retail, a cloud-native SaaS platform for leading retailers, ensuring it scales with resilience, efficiency, and technical excellence. You will own the end-to-end technical architecture and act as the bridge between strategic vision and engineering execution, aligning long-term direction with day-to-day delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the future technology architecture for Hii Retail.
• Ensure the architecture scales with resilience, efficiency, and technical excellence.
• Act as the bridge between strategic vision and engineering execution.
• Align long-term direction with day-to-day delivery.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Site Reliability Engineering, and Developer Enablement to align architecture with business goals.
• Lead the Solution Review Board, ensuring new systems and architectural changes meet standards for scalability, quality, and long-term sustainability.
• Set the strategic direction for AI across product capabilities and engineering efficiency.

About You

You are an experienced architect with a strong enterprise and engineering background from high-growth, product-led organizations, with a deep understanding of how business and technology architecture interlink. You have a proven ability to design scalable, modern platforms and bring a delivery mindset to your work.

You are comfortable operating in fast-paced environments and demonstrate the ability to take initiative, identify problems, and drive solutions with a holistic perspective. You communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders and are confident in explaining complex architectural topics in a clear and structured way. You lead through expertise and influence, building trust and alignment across teams without relying on formal authority.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a senior, principal, or chief architect in a SaaS or technology-led company.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud native architectures, GCP preferred.
• Solid understanding of MACH principles, Microservices, API first, Cloud native, Headless.
• Experience with DevOps, platform engineering, and developer enablement.
• Experience working with AI, including Agentic AI, and modern development practices.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex topics to both technical and business stakeholders.
