Together, we pursue a shared mission to create a more sustainable future.

Process Engineers on the Process Engineering team are key partners for customers in the North American market. They are creative technical leaders who support the successful sale, engineering, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions. To deliver winning solutions, they apply deep technical knowledge of our solutions and technologies combined with an understanding of the customer’s process, the market, regulations, and our competitors to continually balance technical risk with commercial viability.

Responsibilities

  • Align a team of Process Engineers working together on a flow sheet to a strategy, a list of deliverables, and a schedule, and ensure that all process deliverables meet quality and schedule for the project.
  • Lead the design of complete water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions that will meet the customer’s requirements for a given influent and required effluent stream qualities using various in-house and industry design tools.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies including biological treatment, ammonia removal, solids separation, low- and high-pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis - conventional and high-pH), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes to meet the stringent requirements specific to the microelectronics industry.
  • Own the overall Process Flow Diagram (PFD), associated flow tables or mass balance, and overall process guarantees, including management of the interconnections between unit processes and consideration of any impacts of one unit process on upstream or downstream unit processes.
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking and treatability studies as part of design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions.
  • Serve as a lead technical contact with our customers, building partnership relationships, and representing the team of Process Engineers working on the flow sheet together.
  • Identify and support management of technical risks related to the treatment process (flow sheet, unit processes, achievement of outputs), including compiling the risks throughout the flow sheet in collaboration with the Process Engineers on the project team.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using data and observations.
  • Understand relevant regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Own and be accountable for the success of assigned projects throughout project development as measured by achieving treatment requirements (successful operation) and customer satisfaction through proactive communication, collaboration, and leadership of corrective action management, in collaboration with the team of Process Engineers on the project.
  • Demonstrate Veolia’s expertise in the external market through customer and conference presentations.
  • Provide training and 1:1 coaching to members of the Process Engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in an Engineering field – Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred, or other technical discipline with a combination of process design and hands-on microelectronics water and wastewater treatment system experience.
  • 10+ years of related experience, preferably process engineering specific, with an emphasis in process design and/or operation of water, wastewater or waste treatment.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW, wastewater, and reclaim treatment processes and system design/operation for the microelectronics industry.
