Velocity Search Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 6-8 years of experience to join our team in Calabasas, CA. The role involves designing HVAC and plumbing systems, preparing project documentation, and collaborating with team members.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering duties in planning and designing HVAC and plumbing systems for various structures, systems, or equipment.
- Assist in the design elements to complete a project, system, or component with other team members.
- Prepare complete project documentation including plans, specifications, and due diligence reports.
- Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work on multiple projects.
- Interact and collaborate with clients, officials, contractors, and other project team members.
- Correct and update drawings and assist the project team and other staff members as required.
- Ensure company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects.
- Delegate work tasks and collaborate with subordinate staff, monitoring and reviewing delegated work for accuracy.
- Assist Project Managers in coordinating project designs with other disciplines.
- Perform specific engineering studies and design analyses and assist in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives.
- Perform on-site inspections as required.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations with industry software such as Trace 3D Plus, CHVAC, and HAP.
- Select and schedule equipment with oversight by senior staff.
- Layout air and water side systems on drawings.
- Coordinate with other disciplines for HVAC installations.
- Prepare mechanical drawings using designers or drafters and develop specifications.
- Coordinate design with vendor-supplied equipment.
- Prepare equipment layouts and general arrangements.
Requirements
- Strong and versatile building design and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software such as HAP, CHVAC, and Trace 3D Plus.
- Proficiency with duct sizing software.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the project development process within the commercial and retail marketplace, including construction.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering.
- 6-8 years of experience.
- A PE license or the ability to acquire one within 6 months of employment is required.
