About the Team

The Integrity team at OpenAI is dedicated to developing systems that identify and respond to harmful activities on our platforms. Our mission is to protect users and the broader community by addressing complex issues such as cybersecurity, child safety, and nation-state misuse. We work on both frontier harms and high-severity abuses to ensure the safety and integrity of our products.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive protection strategy: Translate ambiguous risks into clear goals, priorities, and roadmaps, making evidence-based trade-offs.
• Build and maintain harm detection systems: Develop production signals, classifiers, and pipelines using SQL, Python, machine learning, and language models.
• Lead cross-functional execution: Translate between specialist roles, resolve dependencies, and communicate recommendations effectively.
• Investigate emerging harms and abuse patterns: Collaborate with domain experts to develop detection criteria and inform policies and review protocols.
• Evaluate and improve the system of defence: Measure harm, detection quality, and intervention effectiveness, and collaborate with Data Science to develop sophisticated metrics.
• Protect product and model launches: Define data, detection, and review requirements, establish monitoring, and drive improvements based on post-launch findings.
• Scale effective approaches: Use language models, agents, and reusable tools to automate and improve reliability, with appropriate human oversight.

Requirements

• Core Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience in writing reliable and efficient production code
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science
  • Strong investigative skills

• Secondary Skills:

  • Ability to set strategy and deliver complex, cross-functional technical projects
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and machine learning methods
  • Ability to use language models and automation to scale analytical, investigative, or operational work
