QA Automation Engineer

About the Position

Our client is a full-service telecommunications provider that develops and delivers multimedia and internet services for residential customers. It supplies services to independent cable network operators and utility companies via a fiber-optic backbone and also operates directly as an internet and TV service provider in selected regions.

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our team. You will own quality across the full Phase 1 delivery. You are embedded in the team from Sprint 0 through Sprint 8 - not a separate testing phase at the end. You define the testing strategy and acceptance criteria jointly with the Solution Architect and client stakeholders, verify them at Sprint Review, and lead the hardening effort in Sprint 8. Your primary tools are automated test suites, CI/CD quality gates, and the defect severity framework defined in the SOW.

Work model: Hybrid (Plovdiv, or Sofia).

Responsibilities

• Define testing strategy, Definition of Done, and P1/P2/P3 defect severity classification in Sprint 0 with the Solution Architect and the company’s stakeholders.
• Write and maintain automated test suites: unit, integration, and end-to-end across the full Walking Skeleton flow (order - provisioning - billing - payment - notification).
• Enforce 90% unit test coverage on new code as a CI/CD hard gate.
• Test and verify all API integrations: Medusa, Lago, Adyen, QMC Provisioning API, Swiss QR-invoice microservice.
• Lead Sprint 8 hardening: full regression suite, performance validation (API under 200ms, LCP under 1 second), observability verification (trace coverage, DataDog dashboards).
• Classify defects jointly with the client per the agreed severity framework. Manage defect triage at Sprint Reviews.
• Contribute to operational runbooks covering test environment setup, test execution, and regression procedures.

Requirements

• Test automation: 6+ years writing automated tests in JavaScript / TypeScript (Jest, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent).
• API testing: REST API and webhook flow testing. Supertest, Postman, or equivalent.
• CI/CD integration: Wiring test suites into pipelines as automated quality gates. Coverage enforcement (Istanbul / c8).
• End-to-end testing: Multi-service E2E testing across distributed microservice flows, not just single-application UI tests.
• Performance testing: Response time and load validation to NFRs (k6, Artillery, or equivalent).
• Defect management: Clear, reproducible defect reporting. Severity classification. Stakeholder triage experience.
• Accessibility testing: WCAG 2.1 compliance validation for storefront components.
• Upper-intermediate English level.
• Ability to visit the office occasionally.

Nice to Have

• eCommerce checkout or payment integration testing experience.
• Contract testing experience (Pact or similar).
• Kubernetes test environment management.
• German or French language skills.
