About the Role

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our QA team in Halle. We view software quality as an integral part of software development, not just a final step before release.

What You Will Experience:

Our QA team works closely with around 30 developers on multiple software products. We release regularly and have already achieved a high degree of automation. You will not be starting from scratch but will work with an established test automation that we aim to further develop together.

Our focus is not on writing as many tests as possible, but on the right tests, stable pipelines, fast feedback cycles, and automation that the team can trust.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our automated UI, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Work with Cucumber/Gherkin and Selenium, and further develop our existing automation stack.
  • Automate REST APIs and consistently integrate automated tests into our CI/CD processes.
  • Analyze unstable or slow tests and ensure our test suite remains reliable.
  • Develop meaningful test strategies for new features together with QA and Development.
  • Question and improve existing tests and framework structures when better solutions are available.
  • Bring your QA perspective into refinements, technical discussions, and development processes early on.
  • Support the team in understanding quality as a shared engineering responsibility.

Requirements

You are currently working in the field of Software Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, or Test Automation, and test automation is a significant part of your daily work.

You will fit well with us if you have experience with several of the following:

  • Selenium WebDriver
  • Cucumber / Gherkin / BDD
  • Automated UI and end-to-end tests
  • REST API testing
  • REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools
  • CI/CD and automated test execution
  • Git
  • SQL and database tests
  • Page Object Model or similar framework architectures
  • Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar CI systems
  • Agile software development / Scrum

Optional: Experience with other modern test automation frameworks is welcome but not required.

What Matters to Us:

You do not need to know our entire tech stack already.

You might come from a Java/Selenium/Cucumber background. Maybe you have also worked with other automation frameworks.

What is crucial for us is that you understand test automation and know how to build a maintainable, reliable, and scalable test suite.

If you have already built, extended, or significantly maintained an automation framework, we would particularly like to get to know you.

What is More Important to Us Than Tool Lists:

We are looking for someone who...

  • Not only finds errors but wants to understand why they occur.
  • Does not measure automation by the number of automated test cases.
  • Does not simply click "Retry" on a flaky test.
  • Can discuss technical solutions with developers on an equal footing.
  • Independently recognizes improvement potential and drives things forward.
  • Can question existing solutions without chasing every new framework hype.
  • Keeps an eye on both the quality and speed of software development.

Language & Work Location

For daily collaboration in the team, you need:

  • German at least C1
  • English at least B2

Our team works in a hybrid model. For this position, you should be able to work in our office in Halle (Saale) regularly – currently two days per week.

Therefore, this position is particularly aimed at candidates from Halle, Leipzig, and the surrounding easily accessible area.

We cannot currently offer visa sponsorship for this position. You should therefore already have a valid work permit that allows you to be employed in Germany without sponsorship from us.

What Immoware24 Offers

What You Can Influence:

We have already automated a lot.

Now it is about turning a good automation into an even better QA engineering platform:

  • Which tests belong on which level?
  • Where can we provide faster feedback?
  • Which parts of our existing automation should we modernize?
  • How do we prevent flakiness?
  • How do we bring UI, API, and integration tests together meaningfully?
  • How do we create quality without slowing down our releases?
  • Which new technologies or frameworks can meaningfully advance us in the future?

If you are excited about such questions, you will have significantly more room for maneuver with us than in a role where you simply automate predefined test cases.

Sounds Like You?

Then we don't need to tick off ten buzzwords in the first conversation.

Show us what you have automated so far, what decisions you made, and what you would do differently today.

That's what we want to talk about with you.
