Creating successful neobanks in emerging markets
QA Engineer (Web/API)
Your Role
As a QA Engineer focused on Web/API at Fintech Farm, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and stability of our banking platforms. You'll work across APIs, web applications, and data flows, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to validate complex business logic, identify risks early, and deliver high-quality releases.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive testing of REST/GraphQL APIs (functional, contract, negative, and performance smoke testing) using tools such as Postman or Insomnia.
- Validate request/response payloads, authentication flows, integrations, and error handling.
- Test web applications end-to-end across major browsers, ensuring complex business scenarios and edge cases are thoroughly covered.
- Analyze product requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, identify gaps, and design effective test scenarios before development is complete.
- Validate data using SQL by verifying persistence, migrations, reconciliation, and backend processes.
- Create and maintain well-structured test plans, test cases, checklists, and regression suites in TestRail.
- Work closely with developers and Product Managers to investigate defects, provide clear reproduction steps, and support issue resolution in Jira.
- Use Charles Proxy, Proxyman, and Swagger/OpenAPI specifications to validate API contracts and troubleshoot integrations.
- Contribute to release quality by supporting smoke testing, release validation, and CI/CD quality processes.
- Read and understand basic JavaScript when needed to better understand UI behavior (no production coding required).
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional QA experience with a strong focus on Web/API and backend testing.
- Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
- Strong experience testing APIs, including HTTP methods, authentication, headers, JSON payloads, status codes, idempotency, retries, and timeout scenarios.
- Hands-on experience writing SQL queries for data validation and debugging.
- Good understanding of client-server architecture, logging, monitoring, and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience working with Postman/Insomnia, Swagger/OpenAPI, Charles/Proxyman, Jira, Confluence, and TestRail.
- Ability to read and understand JavaScript to support testing and troubleshooting (no production coding required).
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance requirements analysis, test design, debugging, documentation, and overall engineering productivity.
- Interest in QA automation and understanding of how manual test scenarios can be designed for future automation. Experience with Playwright, Postman scripting, or JavaScript is a plus, but not required.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing financial products or banking systems.
- Understanding of credit products, including credit limits, interest calculations, repayment schedules, and delinquency flows.
