Responsibilities

• Conduct research and pre-development of innovative electrical machines for electrified vehicles but not limited to
• Focus on Electrical Machine’s electromagnetic design, simulation and optimization as well as prototyping and validation
• Conduct in-depth evaluation of Electrical Machine on: application based motor topology/concept study, accelerated multi-objective optimization, high-frequency modeling, new material application, …
• Execute technology scouting in China/Asia covering both academia and industry and fast evaluation for strategic decisions.
• Work closely with corporate research hub in Renningen, Germany, on project activities and competence development.
• Work closely with business units to supply cutting edge and competitive technology solutions and to transform them to products.
• Main responsibilities include
  • Pursue technology excellence by contributing brilliant ideas to new product concepts including patent filing and prototype validation
  • Support project activities to transfer deliverables to business units successfully
  • Explore AI usage for Electrical Machine
  • Manage suppliers and lab facilities for sample construction.

Requirements

• Ph.D or Master degree in discipline of electrical machine
• At least 5 years electrical machine design experience in academia and industry
• Expert knowledge in electrical machine theory, simulation and electromagnetic design
• Rich experiences of prototyping and experimental validation
• Familiar with electrical machine’s mechanical design, thermal design and validation, NVH assessment and AI-based Multi-Objective Optimization
• Fluent with tools such as Ansys, JMAG, MotorCAD, COMSOL, AutoCAD, UG, Matlab/ Simulink.
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (oral and written), German speaking is a plus
• Good knowledge with certain level of experience on electric powertrain system and components e.g. inverter, electric motor and gearbox are preferred.
• Efficient, goal-oriented, structured working style, experienced in project work
• Passionate for innovation; filed patents on qualified content during PhD or prior work is a benefit
• Strong team player; open to work in an international environment
