About the Position

Microsoft Research India (MSR India) is a leading research lab advancing innovation across research areas like Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Theory, Technology & Empowerment, and Systems. Established two decades ago, the lab has been at the forefront of computer science research in India and has been home to world-class talent and projects.

A research position at Microsoft Research India offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of Computer Science research and technology development, and work with world-class colleagues on meaningful research problems. We are looking for exceptional researchers with a demonstrated track record in AI/ML, including new models, scalable ML architectures, systems support for such workloads, and innovative large-scale applications of ML models. Projects in the lab are interdisciplinary and span across research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, systems, theory, and related areas.

Responsibilities

• Researchers with strong scientific and analytical skills.
• Comfortable dealing with open research problems, new ideas, and evolving directions.
• Work closely with other researchers, engineers, product teams, and internal/external partners.
• Drive research toward impactful publications and influence industry trends.
• Opportunity to receive mentoring as well as to mentor and lead interns and other team members.

Requirements

• Required:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related disciplines.
  • Strong programming and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive end-to-end research and development-from ideation to deployment.
  • Ability to effectively work in highly collaborative environments.

• Preferred:

  • Relevant industry work experience with a proven track record of innovation and delivering impactful solutions.
  • A strong track record of innovation as evidenced by high-quality publications and impact that is commensurate.
