Robotics & Automation Technician

About the Position

We are looking for a Robotics & Automation Technician (Mechatroniker für Robotik und Automatisierung) to join our team at Intrinsic, an AI robotics group at Google, in Munich, Germany. Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. Responsibilities

• Work closely with mechanical engineers, product managers, software developers, and researchers to design, maintain, and refine our automation systems for electronic manufacturing.
• Manufacture mechanical and electrical assemblies for fast, innovative R&D robot automation cells.
• Perform electrical tests and troubleshoot faults in existing automation cells.
• Manage daily laboratory maintenance, warehouse logistics, and hardware-related office tasks.
• Independent and timely completion of projects.
• Read and execute hardware specifications and circuit diagrams for assembling and wiring industrial control cabinets, robot peripherals, and HMI/PLC hardware.
• Procurement and integration of best-in-class technology products into automation work cells.
• Document and communicate your work clearly and understandably to internal stakeholders.
• Representation of the local laboratory manager in their absence.

Requirements

• Completed vocational training with several years of relevant experience, ideally qualification as a master craftsman or technician (Mechatronik Meister oder Techniker) in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrable practical experience in mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and troubleshooting of laboratory or production systems.
• Experience in the installation and operation of common mobile or stationary robot applications.
• Professional experience with CAD-Software for checking mechanical designs, layouts, and electrical systems.
• Understanding of plant and occupational safety, related occupational safety certificate is a plus.
• Knowledge of the interpretation of electrical and pneumatic circuit diagrams, as well as the ability to assemble industrial control cabinets.
• Business fluency in German and English is required.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
• The willingness to deal with ambiguity, proactive problem solving, and bias for action.
• Hands-on and shop floor mentality.

Nice to Have

• Experience in PLC programming or troubleshooting (e.g., Beckhoff, PILZ) and motion control systems.
• Professional experience with 3D printing, prototyping, and machining (e.g., drilling, cutting, soldering).
• Demonstrable experience in the implementation of safety circuits and knowledge of industrial safety standards (e.g., ANSI/RIA R15.06, ISO 10218, Machinery Directive or Regulation).
• Experience in modifying or designing simple electrical and pneumatic circuit diagrams for automation systems.
• Experience in managing robot laboratory maintenance, hardware inventory, and logistics processes.

• Base salary between 80.000 - 82.000 EUR per year + 15% bonus + equity + benefits.
