Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engineer

About the Position

As a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engineer, you will own the engineering capabilities of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, designing scalable data integrations, automation workflows, and platform services that connect enterprise customer data and power personalized customer experiences.

This is a platform engineering role focused on data, integrations, and automation rather than campaign execution or email development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable customer journeys, automation workflows, and data-driven solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, and Email Studio).
• Leverage SQL and AMPscript to develop customer segmentation, data processing, and dynamic business logic, with an emphasis on data engineering and automation rather than email template development.
• Design, build, and maintain integrations between Customer Data Platforms (CDP), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and CRM systems, ensuring accurate, reliable, and scalable customer data flows across the enterprise.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Python-based data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and integration with Databricks.
• Manage deployments using SFMC DevOps and CLI-based deployment workflows, ensuring reliable and consistent platform releases.
• Contribute to solution design, platform optimization, troubleshooting, governance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience designing and developing solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, and Email Studio.
• Strong SQL proficiency, including Data Extensions, Data Views, and Query Activities, with experience in customer segmentation, data transformation, and query optimization.
• AMPscript for dynamic content and data-driven logic.
• Strong understanding of customer data architecture and data flows within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including integrations with CRM and enterprise systems using APIs and Marketing Cloud Connect.
• Working knowledge of Python, with the ability to read, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing data pipelines.
• Experience working with Git, command-line tools, and documentation-driven development practices, with the ability to work independently in a product-led Agile environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Databricks is considered a strong advantage.
• SFMC DevOps package / CLI-based SFMC deployment experience.
• Experience with CDPs, enterprise data warehouses, data modeling, consent management.
• Cloud exposure (AWS or Azure), APIs, experimentation/personalization frameworks.
• Comfortable in Agile, product-led teams, contributing to architecture and governance.
