SAM Pro Consultant

About the Position

We are seeking a SAM Pro Consultant to improve the accuracy and maintainability of the ServiceNow SAM Pro repository through a coordinated 20-week effort.

Responsibilities

Improve the accuracy and maintainability of the ServiceNow SAM Pro repository through a coordinated 20-week effort to normalize Software Models, clean up inaccurate or unnecessary records, and relate Software Entitlements to the appropriate models.

These activities will be performed concurrently because normalization decisions affect model cleanup and entitlement relationships, while entitlement research may identify additional model corrections.

Remediation Approach

The work will be organized by publisher or product group. For each group, the assigned SAM resource will complete the following interconnected activities:

Software Model Normalization

• Validate Publisher, Product, Version, Edition, and Product Type.
• Confirm whether the software is Licensable or Non-Licensable.
• Review Discovery Model mappings.
• Validate suite parent, component, and inference relationships.
• Confirm that the model is appropriate for reconciliation and license management.

Software Model Cleanup

• Identify duplicate, obsolete, incomplete, or incorrectly created Software Models.
• Consolidate or retire records where appropriate.
• Correct inaccurate product, publisher, version, or licensability classifications.
• Remove unnecessary models only after confirming there are no required installations, entitlements, subscriptions, or other dependencies.
• Correct Discovery Model relationships that contribute to duplicate or inaccurate Software Models.

Entitlement Validation and Association

• Review license metric, quantity, version, edition, maintenance, and license rights.
• Validate supporting purchase and contract information.
• Identify the correct normalized Software Model.
• Create an entitlement record where supporting documentation exists but no entitlement has been created.
• Relate each entitlement to the appropriate Software Model.
• Validate that the relationship supports accurate reconciliation and compliance calculations.

Reconciliation and Quality Validation

• Run reconciliation throughout the remediation effort.
• Review unmatched installations, unallocated entitlements, and compliance exceptions.
• Validate suite recognition and license calculations.
• Use reconciliation results to identify additional normalization, cleanup, or entitlement corrections.
